Spam arghlkjadfawetpjadsflkj
For some reason, occasionally, I think people actually visit my site. I sometimes start receiving spam comments on certain articles! I think that these come from someone linking to an article that I’ve posted on forums or somewhere and then spam bots picking it up? The only other reasoning I have is that the spam bots are picking up these posts directly for whatever reason (I find that hard to fathom for some reason). But that made me remember I had a blog
There is still hope yet! It’s been over two months since my last post, and there really isn’t anything new to talk about going on. I’m thinking of starting to blog about things outside of my life that may be more interesting to read about, and occasionally putting life events or fun stuff in as easter eggs! It also makes me think; am I really that boring?! The answer might be “yes”; or, the answer might just be that I’m very forgetcul (read: lazy) and don’t blog here.
Either one, I think we should fix that ![]()
And what about those posts?!
Yea so, vacation allowed for a lot of time to play WoW and lounge around being a bum. There was very little thought of my blog, unfortunately.
So things goings on:
- Working on the frontsite for terigo.com, trying to find a decent CMS so I can dump all of my knowledge in a nice readable format for the general public
- Hanging out with Eric and Jeremiah a bunch and playing WoW with them. We’re all around 72, so not much further until 80!
- Working on some jBPM stuff for work, “deciphering the Boss”, it’s pretty clever. Hopefully I’ll be able to have some information about it up soon.
I can’t think of much else going on at the moment! Back to work, keep checking back to terigo.com; hopefully it’ll start getting a facelift/content soon!
Gorgeous Day in R-VA
Pop vs Soda in the US
I came across this map the other day after finding the website http://strangemaps.wordpress.com/. There are quite a few interseting maps on this site, but this one I found amusing for some reason!
Here’s a link to the original post, and here’s the map produced:
Ubuntu’s Elaborate Power History
I ran across this today on my laptop, and it is quite interesting. It could potentially be useful as well (when evaluating the state of your laptop battery!). Gnome has a nifty tool to show you graphs of your power usage on a laptop. Simply right click on the power icon in the tray, and choose “Power History”.
Here are some screenshots!
Love, Vim
Love it, and you must too!! I found out something very useful today for Vim. When you’re using visual blocks (you ARE using visual blocks, aren’t you?) when you perform a command on the block or even de-select it, you can get the same exact block BACK immediately by pushing g then v! Awesome!
Now go, use your knowledge and conquer the world of VIM!
Change Default Editor In Ubuntu
This is plastered all over the internet, but just to increase the likelyhood you will find it (and perhaps to help those that are doing it the hard way) there is a great command that will allow you to set the default system editor on your Ubuntu system.
sudo update-alternatives --config editor
It brings up a nice menut hat you can just select from an installed editor. Brilliant!
WTF Windows (again)
I have begrudgingly began using Windows XP again on my work laptop. I have pretty much already decided to load Linux again, and just run Windows contained with in a virtual machine or something so its safe; however, I haven’t gotten around to reinstalling yet.
In the meantime, Windows seems to be happily updating itself. The default install on Windows apparently is to install the updates automatically (nothing new here really). So, then I get a nice little popup that says “Windows has finished installing updates! Click here to restart” near my clock. I close out of it so I can finish my work. I come back a couple of minutes later and there is now a popup in the middle of the screen that looks like this:
Ok, so wow, didn’t you get me canceling in the first place? So I choose “Restart Later” and went on about my business. I come back to my computer after several more minutes to find that it had restarted itself! Apparently “Restart Later” is really “Restart my computer very shortly after I already told you not to restart”.
WTF Windows. I’m a happy Mac and Linux user.
Sunday Sep 7, 2008 Ride
I went on a motorcycle ride this past weekend with a friend of mine Eric. It was quite adventerous and long by getting lost multiple times (mainly due to my bad sense of direction on that particular outing)
